Is there special entitlement when the SQL2016 is running on virtual server Win 2016 r2 EMBSYS STD and it is vMotion between vSphere ESXi ?
There is no volume license and the current licenses are individually purchased. Is there an additional license that need to be purchased such as Software Assurance License to move the server using vMotion? If yes, how to obtain the additional license
and what is the cost? Can vMotion between ESXi chassis on VMware vSphere be used to transfer the servers without buying the additional entitlement?
The SQL server is a single virtual machine of Win2016 R2 hosted on vSphere ESXi, the servers are not clustered. The vMotion is mainly used to move servers between ESXi chassis to re-distribute the resources and plan for the maintenance.
