I am looking at patching a Server 2008 R2 server with SP1, as it does not accept modern patches without the SP. It has a SQL 2008 SP3 install. I looked at the SQL 2008 SPs, checking for any compatibility for 2008 R2 SP1. None of them mention 2008 R2 SP1, they only mention the non SP1 variant, even though they were released at similar times to Windows SP1.
Are there any compatibility issues when Applying 2008 R2 SP1, to SQL 2008 SP3 installs?
