I have just bought a new DELL laptop with Windows 10 Home pre-installed. I have downloaded the SQL 2016 Dev Edition iso from my Benefits page and mounted it on my laptop. I have tried 2 types of installation, one from the mounted setup.exe and one from a temp folder on the C: drive where I copied the unzipped files to. The result is the same.
The build starts then bombs out straight to the Start screen. there is only one log file, Detail_LandingPage.txt (although there are a lot of Build folders now for each time I have attempted the install). All the log files are identical. The last line shows the executable and parameters for starting the Landing page. The path is correct, the parameters match what I would expect. I have tried running the install as administrator, I have enabled ALL sub-options under .NET 3.5 and .NET 4.7 (please don't tell me .NET 4.0 is a specific requirement) and I am running out of ideas.
Please somebody must know what the issue is?
