How do I create an installation DVD disc from an ISO image file I downloaded from an authorized download site? The file I downloaded is for MS SQL 2008 RE DE.
When I unzip the ISO image to a temporary folder on my hard drive, there are about 7 gigs of files and folders. On the other hand, when I look at my retail versions of MS SQL 2008 DE DVDs, they have about 3.03 gigabytes of data. Most DVD discs have 4.7 GB capacity. There is not enough space for 7 gigs.
Also, the ISO file needs to be expanded or unzipped. When expanded, the folder shown are more than the folders shown on the DVD which are with my retail packages. This makes me unsure of which folders are needed from the ISO image. Also, in the retail packages, there is only one DVD.
I have created many types of CDs and DVDs from a variety of images, including ISO images. I have looked for information about installing MS SQL 2008 R2 DE on the web. There are a number of discussions, but none which answer the title question.
Also, please note that the ISO image will fit on a DVD. However, the ISO image remains compressed or, more accurately, “Zipped”. That is not an installation CD. Unless, of course, I mount that disc. Unfortunately, in my situation mounting the disc will not work well. I need the ISO file to work like the disc of a retail version of MS SQL 2008 R2 DE.
So it appears that I am doing something wrong. Is there a procedure for creating an installation disc from an ISO file for MS SQL 2008?
