Hi,
Because of reporting features missing in SQL Server 2008 R2 which resulted in reporting issues while trying to make reports from within VS2010, which others have also confirmed on several forums, it seems I have no choice but to upgrade to 2012.
My first objective was to first uninstall SQL Server 2008 R2 and then install SQL Server 2012. But couldn't go far as I didn't succeed uninstalling SS2008 R2. The setup program made all its checks, confirmed that everything was ok then, after a few minutes, stopped with a "insufficient memory" error. I even tried by just uninstalling the "Reporting Service" part but got again that same error message. So I had no choice but to recover my whole disk. Thanks to myself I made a backup!
BTW, the actual version of SS208 is SQL Server 2008 R2 Express edition with Advanced Services SP2 CU1. SQL Server Compact 3.5 SP2 is also installed on my disk. For building my applications, I'm using Visual Studio 2010 Professionnal Edition SP1. My machine actually have 1,75GB of 3.00GB total physical memory used, 1.75 of 6,2 GB total virtual memory used. Finally, my hard disk has 60 GB free. Unless I'm wrong, I just can't see where is the problem.
Now, getting back to SQL Server 2012 webpage, I could read that it was possible to upgrade from 2008 R2 to 2012. Could this be my exit door?
I would really appreciate if someone could help. What action should I take?
Thanks in advance for helping,
Stéphane
