SQL 2008 R2: Log on Timeout issue

Hi,

we got issue with SMS SQL2008 r2,
Cannot log on in 15s time out..
Can log on in 30s  time out but lag is very visible in accessing the SQL server.

we tried to remote access SQL 2005, no timeout adjustment needed and no lag is experienced in accessing the SQL server.

Any known issue?
