SQL Server 2008 R2 Management Studio Crashes

I have SQL Server 2008 R2 on Windows XP Prof-SP3, on a Dell Optiplex 990.  When in SQL Server 2008 R2 Management Studio, I Right-click on a table name, the Right-click context menu appears, and the system freezes, requiring a power off and back on.  It does not do it every time, but frequently enough to interfere with my work.  I have no other problems or error messages with Windows, other programs or other tasks in Mgmt Studio.

The event logs show nothing in System or Application events.  There will be a normal event, followed awhile later by the boot events.  So it appears that when Mgmt Studio has the problem, the computer stops dead and there is no error handling.  The screen image stays up (it does not go black), but nothing else seems to be happening.

This started when I got a new Dell 990 and installed all software from scratch.  Then the hard drive was replaced and I again installed all software fromscratch.  Then the computer was replaced and again I installed all software from scratch.  This problem has continued through each of these installs.

How can I fix this?

Thanks for any help.
