Hi everyone,
I'm not a SQL admin, but have a task that I need help with and can't seem to make my google searches come up with anything except moving mdf and ldf files.
We have a SQL 2005 database on a server 2003 that the vendor started to move to a new server and then found out we were changing software and he didn't finish the job and his contract expired. He moved the databases to the new server, but didn't point the associated files (\\ccss\ccssphotos to \\Washington\ccssphotos). This is an old jail database that is needed from time to time to look up old cases.
He used access 2002 and made adp files with it and when he was happy with the adp, he made an ade file with any updates. At any rate, I really need to get the newer target SQL server to look on its own hard drive for the files (\\washington\ccssphotos). The original 2003 server is now 10 years old and as soon as I get this configuration resolved, I will virtualize the newer SQL (server 2008) and decommission both of the physical boxes. The newer server has SQL 2012 and SQL 2008 standard on it. The old SQL server has 2005 standard on it if that helps.
