I am having trouble installing a required patch my Cyber Security team wants installed. It is KB3194714. When I attempt to install it manually (downloaded here...https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=54190) the option to patch the engine is greyed out and cannot be checked. I attempted the installation using windows update. The KB shows up as an important update. I install the update and windows update lets me know a reboot is required. I reboot the server, but SQL Server version number is still 12.0.5000. The patch shows up as installed in programs and features and it still shows up as an important update . I've checked the forums, and there seems to be incompatibility issues with some other patches, but I don't have those patches installed. I'm not sure where to go from here. Any help would be appreciated.
