I have an MSDN subscription through my employer and I was successfully using SQL Server 2012. One morning it stopped working, claiming my license had expired, so I uninstalled it. I then installed SQL Server 2014 and on the MSDN download page it specifically states that no key is required. Once installed, I tried to launch Management Studio I get the same prompt saying "Your Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio evaluation period has expired" and will not open unless I input a key. I don't have a key since it told me a key is not required on the MSDN site.
Is this some leftover junk in the registry from the 2012 install?
