We have a development server with several versions of SQL Server. Now we're adding SQL2016. Only parts installed are Database Engine Services, Full Text, Reporting services native, Client tools connectivity, and Integration services. Using Developer edition
of SQL Server. Host OS is Windows Server 2012 Standard.
Initial install was fine. Then I added ACT7 instance (Act! contact manager requires this instance name) and unfortunately used same folder for user databases. That causes problems for SQL2016 instance since security on that folder now is for the new instance.
Uninstalled both.
Reboot.
Deleted all SQL2016 folders.
Reinstalled SQL2016 instance. Error during install: "Could not find the Database Engine startup handle."
Found article online suggesting to delete all SQL2016-related registry keys.
Reboot.
Reinstalled SQL2016 instance. Error during install: "Value cannot be null. Parameter name: value"
Two log files are below.
I'm running out of ideas. What should be my next move?
Thanks,
-Tom.
