I am currently using SAP business One with SQL server 2008,11gb memory to SQL out of 16gb RAM, 10 users,4 years usage
I observe from task manager that the low performance issue like slow data saving, is caused by 1) Excess memory usage by SAP applications ie 10users consume 450000 kb each which includes three sap applications of 150000 kb each 2) Excess memory usage by Sqlserv application which is about 3200000 kb which includes cached memory 3) Lots of hard page faults.
And if only 3 users out of 10 users are connected then the performance is excellent and it reduces when more users get connected , since 450000kb of memory is consumed by each user in SAP.application,however sqlserver consumes the same of 3200000kb .Better way to solve the issue is to reduce the memory consumed by SAP/Sql than keep increasing the RAM.
On Observation the performance reduces also when only 3 users are only connected over a period of say 10 hours which could be of lots of hard page faults
We are in contact with SAP consultant to reduce the memory consumed by the three SAP applications
Appreciate your inputs with respect to 1) configure/fine tune sql to consume lower memory and perform better 2) Reduce hard page faults.
