SQL 2012 SP2 X86 Freezes - Updating MSI Timing Action

I'm trying to upgrade a box to SP2 to start with on dev. It's a X86 install.

When running SQLServer2012SP2-KB2958429-x86-ENU.exe : the screen freezes for a long time on "Updating MSI Timing Action" whereafter it fails linking to a log file in a \program files(86)\ dir that is non existent. Though the log file is existent under \program files\ .
