FileTable on Windows 8: file share is not accessible?

Hi,

I've installed SQL 2012 on Windows 8 Enterprise. I've enabled FILESTREAM to remote streaming access. I then created a database containing a FileTable.

I am expecting, just like on Win 7, to be able to navigate to \\localhost and see the MSSQLSERVER share, then click on the database root folder and the table root folder and start creating new files, etc. However, when trying to navigating to \\localhost, MSSQLSERVER isn't listed. Typing in \\localhost\MSSQLSERVER (or any path thereunder) results in this error:

Windows cannot access \\localhost\MSSQLSERVER
...
Error code: 0x80004005
Unspecified error

However, when I right-click the FileTable in SSMS and select Explore FileTable Directory, it opens just fine in Windows Explorer and I can create new files and folders. Other applications, like Word, also are not able to navigate to \\localhost\MSSQLSERVER. But if a file is opened from the FileTable share, they can save it.

I would appreciate any help,

SA.
