Consequences of using out-of-mainstream support SQL 2008R2

My management wants me to justify why we should upgrade from SQL2008R2 (out of mainsttream support) to SQL2014.

I have enough technological arguments, but still looking for any kind of impact at support level. Eg will a stackdump still be analyzed by support to conclude any dll incompatibility?
