2008 R2 compatibility with 2014

We currently have a few of locations using SQL Server 2008 R2, I am currently using 2008 R2 Express.

I am in the process of upgrading from 2008 R2 Express and have opted to go 2014 Standard, 2012 or 2008 R2 are available as well, but I figured it makes more sense to go with the later version.

There are some concerns that we will not be able to share solutions developed on the 2014 platform with the 2008 R2 systems (share a copy of the database and mount on another server) and visa versa.

Any specifics I need to be aware of (that I can do more research on) if we have 2014 and 2008 R2 systems ?

I am under the impression that this would not be a major concern but then again I am by no means an expert on SQL Server, just been using 2008 R2 Express for about three years and have had some great success with it.

I looked at the SQL Server Backwards Compatibility here on MSDN and don't see anything that concerns me.

Thanks for your advice.
