Multiple VHDX attached to single SQL Server 2012 VM

Hello-

I am preparing to create a new Windows Server 2012 R2 VM running SQL Server 2012.

Environment:

Windows 2012 R2 Hyper-V (Host)

HP DL380 Gen 8 with 96GB RAM, 6 x 300GB SAS 10K RPM in RAID 10.  SmartArray P420i with 1GB FBWC.

For the SQL Server 2012 VM, I am considering 3 disks or partitions:  1 for OS/SQL binaries, 1 for logs, and 1 for databases.  I am fairly certain that I could create a separate VHDX for each (OS, logs, and databases).  Is there any advantage/ disadvantage to doing so?  Would I be better off just creating a single VHDX and partitioning?

I'm thinking that using separate VHDX for each would allow greater flexibility in terms of future re-sizing.

Thoughts?

Thanks
