Hi All,
I have a requirement to Deploy SQL Server 2008R2 in 3-tier architecture, I need some consultation on Licensing front.
I' understand we can use per core model however I need to understand if we can use Server + CAL model for below mentioned scenarios or not :-
Please help with under mentioned Questions/Scenarios :-
Q1. Differentiation between Direct and Indirect Connections as per SQL Licensing Models ?
Q2.Can we downgrade SQL 2014 Standard License to Install SQL 2008R2 Standard/Enterprise as per SQL 2014 Downgrade Rights ?
Q3. In a Web Server Scenario, We have frontend Server running Apache on RHEL to cater all incoming requests and a backend application server running RHEL connecting to SQL Database Instance using Database Logins created for Application Integration and Authentication, Kindly suggest number of SQL Licenses required as perSERVER + CAL model.(UserCAL and/or DeviceCAL)
No. of Virtual Machine - 1
No. of Instances on SQL Server – 1
No. of Virtual Processor on VM hosting SQL Instance – 6
No. of concurrent connections expected on frontend Web Server – 500
Q4. In another scenario, We have a SQL Server deployed on Virtual Machine and will be used Reporting Server, and Reporting Services are configured and using 1 Database Logins, At a given instant of time 100 concurrent users will execute report on Reporting Server, Kindly suggest on number of SQL Licenses required as perServer + CAL model.(UserCAL and/or DeviceCAL)
No. of Virtual Machine - 1
No. of Instances on SQL Server – 1
No. of Virtual Processor on VM hosting SQL Instance – 4
No. of concurrent connections expected on Reporting Server – 100
Early responses would be appreciated, Thanks
Regards,
Gaurav
