Find Number of cores used in SQL Server 2008 R2

Hi All,

I am planning to upgrade SQL server 2008 R2 Enterprise edition to SQL Server 2012 Enterprise edition. As we all are aware that the Currently licensing model for SQL server 2008 R2 is based per processor.
From SQL Server 2012,Microsoft have changed the licensing model to core based.

I am after to find out the number of cores utilized/actual usage by the current system. I am not after the find the number of cores in the current system.

I went through articles in the web and could only find the way the number of cores in the current system not the actual utilization.

Any help here will be appreciated.
