I have been running as administrator on the SQL 2008 R2 Standard 64 bit CD. I am installing it on a brand new Dell R310 server with all the hardware requirements (a minimal need Management server only). It is running Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise
with SP1. I have tried running the Setup to install the Setup Support Files a number of times. I tried running the System Config Checker. I tried a repair. It passes all 15 Setup Support Rules (All Green Checks). Click OK.
Looks like it is proceeding (SQL 2008 processes the current process message), then..... all messages just go away and the SQL Server Installation Center is just sitting there. Nothing. I tried to download and install the Windows Installer 4.5 but
it just says it does not apply to my version. Server is patched. The only 4 I chose not to install (for various reasons) are Silverlight, IE9, Malicious Software Tool and Script Editor and 2007 Office Help update.
