We have to build a new ESX vSphere Server for at least 2 VM : 1 SQL Server 2008 R2, 1 Web App IIS Server.
Of course, OS and Pagefile, SQL Data, Logs, and TempDb will be on separate volumes...
We can buy a HP Proliant DL 380 G8, with or :
- 16 x 1,2 TB 10K HP drives
- 8 x 300 GB 15K + 8 x 1,2 TB 10K drives
Wich RAID configuration would be the best solution to have the greatest perfs with not too much complexity ?
Do the 2 RAID Controller can support 16x1,2 TB on One Big RAID 10 ?
I heard that OBR10 is a good one, instead of splitting in 2 arrays... Is it necessary to keep a or 2 spare drives ?
