Use of TSQL_Replay template in SQL Server Profiler has been well documented for many versions including 2012. However, profiler has been deprecated for Database Engine Trace Capture and Trace Replay. So it could work capturing on SQL 2008 and replaying on SQL 2012. However, it is better to be utilizing the latest methods, if possible.
- Is it possible to capture activity using extended events on SQL 2008 and replay them on SQL 2012?
- Is Replay Markup Language able to capture on SQL 2008 and replay on SQL 2012?
- Is it possible to identify all issues that might exist after upgrading from SQL 2008 to 2012 by using extended events deprecation_announcement and deprecation_final_support alone without testing replay?
