Our x64 server has two instances: Microsoft SQL Server Enterprise Edition (10.50.1617.0) and sqlexpress (10.1.2531.0). Our data is in instance MSSQLSERVER (Enterprise).
The only reason I need to update sqlexpress to SP2 is to install TFS2012. I've downloaded several versions of SP2 andthis was the last onethat I downloaded and tried to install. When I try to install this patch, it seems that all the features are already installed (checkboxes are grayed out). And I don't want to create another instance of sqlexpress just for this.
So I tried to uninstall the existing sqlexpress installation, but there are so many things with "sql" that I don't know what to uninstall.
I then tried to install sql server 2012 express and it requires sqlserver express 2008 SP2.
What can I do? The server is up-to-date with all the updates and has been rebooted.
Thanks.
